The F-hole cutter handle is made out of brass in Chicago.
NOTE: If you already have a handle, they ARE compatible with Chenly cutters. If you are worried, you are welcome to email info@chenlytools.com to double check.
The violin/viola handle and the cello/bass handle from Chenly share the SAME thread. The only difference between a violin/viola handle and a cello/bass handle is that the cello/bass one has a longer pilot rod for accommodating taller cutter wings.
For make-your-own, the hole is roughly 1/2″ by 1/2″.
Shape-your-owns come in a 1-1.25" cylindrical wood stock, usually maple, poplar or oak. The shaped handle pictured is crafted by Seattle-based maker Michael Doran.
Pilot rod sizes vary: 2.5mm (recommended) /3mm (no longer available unless requested). The thread is universal. Please choose your pilot hole drill based on the pilot rod diameter.
