All Chenly f-hole cutters and handles share the same thread.
The cello/bass handle has a longer pilot rod for accommodating taller cutter wings. The diameter of the pilot rod is 2.5mm.
If you already have a violin set handle from elsewhere, it is compatible with Chenly f-hole cutters. If you are unsure, measure the outside diameter of the thread with a caliper - it is compatible if it measures about 4mm or slightly under.
For make-your-own, the hole is roughly 1/2″ by 1/2″.
Shape-your-owns come in a 1" cylindrical wood stock, usually in maple, poplar or oak. The shaped handle pictured is crafted by Seattle-based maker Michael Doran.
